If you were to rewire your head, you’d change your world. However, the million-dollar question is: just how does one go about rewiring one’s head? To put it simply, true, lasting change is achieved through mindfulness. It is our belief that in order to create an honest-to-goodness shift in the way we feel, in our perspective, the way we actually experience life on an daily basis, it is vital that we look not to the past or the future, but instead to the present moment, as change can only occur in the here and now.
With that understanding, our Dynamics of Change Workshop will explore the facets of change, and ways for you to catalyze it in your life, manage it and embrace it. The interactive discussion will challenge long-held notions you have about how to achieve change that ‘sticks’. It will push you to examine your patterns from a distance while you’re with us in Bali. Allowing you to view your life’s habits more objectively, which will inspire you to modify or do away with the routines that no longer serve you. After applying the lessons from the workshop, you’ll have a greater sense of awareness and you’ll be reminded of how much agency you have over the trajectory of your life.
In the go-go-go world we live in, our default setting tends to be fixed on frenetic thought. If we could stop the unconstructive thought patterns at will, trust us, we would be tuning into that frequency as often as we could. Instead, we’ve had to learn other ways to temper our mind’s non-stop chatter. Our Breath for Health & Performance Workshop does just that for us. It makes for a gentle way to reconnect with yourself by redirecting your attention back to your breath. With a little practice, you’ll notice a sense of calm will begin to wash over you every time you engage in this mindful practice.
With continued breathwork practice, you’ll notice a drop in your anxiety and stress levels. This positive change can be attributed to drop in heart rate one experiences when focused on his or her breath. Consistent breath control exercises have also been shown to change your brain for the better. This improvement in brain physiology will also help you cope with stressful situations in a healthier way. By controlling your breath, you’ll have a steady heartbeat and reassume control of your nervous system and the emotional center of your brain. No longer will unclear thinking and ineffective memory recall keep you from making well thought-out decisions.
We’ll take our breathing retention exercises to task by practicing in our 20-meter swimming pool. You’ll feel supported, safe and comfortable as we engage in static breath holds. The pool activities, which will be enhanced by guided mental exercises, will ease any anxiety one may have about being in the water. That is why this workshop is great for anyone would like to get over a fear of being in the water or surfers who would like to get over any hang-ups they may have with the ocean. And, of course, this workshop is a first-rate introduction to freediving.
You’ll walk away with greater confidence in the water, an acute sense of your mental willpower and an increase in your lung vitality. Should you keep up with practicing the breath-hold exercises learned in the workshops, you’ll continue to develop breath awareness and control, correcting unhealthy breathing habits when they arise. Most importantly, this self-control will manifest itself best in your mindfulness. By going back to the basics to train your breathing muscles, you will become more self-aware and be that much closer to your peak state.
